Hades 2: How To Get Night Shade
Hades 2 sets Melinoe on the path of destroying Chronos, Titan of Time. The road leading to Chronos is not easy, and you must first unlock many incantations and power-ups, and enhance Melinoe before she can have a shot at killing Chronos.
Night Shade is one of the many items that help you unlock powerful incantations and give Melinoe more fighting chances during encounters and against bosses. This resource is a plant and therefore the seeds must be obtained first to grow and collect them. This guide showcases how to get Night Shade seeds and grow this plant in the game.
Hades 2 is in Early Access on Steam. As the game development advances, some content may or may not change. We will update this guide as required once the game comes out of Early Access.
How To Get Night Shade
To obtain a Night Shade item, you must first collect Night Shade seeds. These seeds do not drop by defeating enemies, bosses, or clearing encounters. They can be obtained by digging into the dirt platforms that appear randomly as you explore Erebus.
You need a Silver Spade tool for digging and extracting the Night Shade seeds.
How To Get A Silver Spade
After getting ten silver, head to the training room and unlock the Silver Spade. However, you must equip this tool before you head out for your run. Otherwise, if you bring the wrong tool, you will not see the button prompt for digging the dirt platforms for Night Shade seeds.
Unlocking Rich Soil Incantation
You must unlock the Flourishing Soil incantation to plant any seed in the game. For this, head to the Crossroads and interact with the cauldron at the center of the room.
The Flourishing Soil is one of the early game incantations that you should be able to see after doing a few runs and collecting at least one Molly item.
This incantation gives you two soil spots to plant seeds that you have. The planting location is near Odysseus, the Veteran Tactician. After planting a Night Shade seed, you are required to complete five encounters for the seed to grow so that you can harvest it after returning to Crossroads.
How To Use Night Shade
After obtaining a handful of Night Shade items, you will need these to unlock mid-to-high-level incantations. Incantations such as Doomed Beckoning and Floral Fortune require you to have a couple of Night Shade items before you can unlock these.
The Floral Fortune unlocks the pawn shop at the Wretched Broker merchant. If you have excessive Night Shade items, you can sell each item for ten Bones.
The Night Shade item is abbreviated as N.Shade on some in-game menus. Do not confuse this item with any other, as both refer to the same thing: Night Shade.
