The iconic Gold Saucer date from the original Final Fantasy 7 makes its return in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but with some changes to its mechanics.

This time around, you'll need to focus on raising the relationship level of the party member you want to accompany you on the ferris wheel date. Additionally, there's a mini-date a few chapters before the main one. When is the Gold Saucer date in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

While you first visit the Gold Saucer in Chapter 8 of FF7 Rebirth, the full Gold Saucer date doesn't occur until Chapter 12. The initial visit serves to familiarize you with the minigames and layout while progressing the story. However, in Chapter 8, you do experience a mini-date (albeit cut short) with the party member Cloud has the highest relationship level with.

The later occurrence of the proper ferris wheel date in the game works in your favor if you haven't been focusing on side content related to your chosen date partner. You'll need to have a high enough relationship level with them to trigger their involvement in the date. This is particularly advantageous for characters like Yuffie, who join the party later in the game.

What characters can you date in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

While these outings are classified as dates, not all of them are strictly romantic and are more about character development or having a fun night out.

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you can go on a date with the following characters:

- Aerith
- Tifa
- Barret
- Red XIII
- Yuffie
- Cid, Cait Sith, and Vincent (main date only)

All dates in FF7 Rebirth are dependent on your relationship level, except for the group outing with Cid, Cait Sith, and Vincent. This group date can be unlocked by not meeting the minimum relationship level with any other character or by accessing the extra settings from the menu after completing the game and repeating the ferris wheel sequence.

The ferris wheel moment, reminiscent of the date scene in the original Final Fantasy 7, remains a significant event in FF7 Rebirth. However, there are now more options, and technically two dates. Cloud's date partner is determined by his relationship level with the rest of the party.

The party member with the highest relationship level automatically accompanies Cloud on the Gold Saucer date, provided you meet the minimum relationship level requirement. There's no choice during the moment itself. In Chapter 8 and Chapter 12 at the Gold Saucer, Cloud will receive a knock on his room door, and the person on the other side is the one he'll go on the mini-date and full date with.


To ensure you go on the date with your preferred character, prioritize raising your relationship level with them before these moments in Chapter 8 and Chapter 12. You can improve relationship levels by selecting optimal dialogue options, excelling in unique events like the Junon Parade, using Synergy Abilities with Cloud for the first time, and completing character-specific side quests.

If multiple characters have the same relationship level with Cloud, the one closest to gaining another relationship level will be selected for the date.

You can check a character's relationship level at any time by holding down 'L1'.

One notable feature is that you can experience the full Gold Saucer date in Chapter 12 with any character without having to replay the game multiple times. However, you must complete the game first to unlock the menu extra settings that enable this feature.
