Specifically:
1. When you initiate a trade request with someone else, it will show that you cannot trade with the other party (error code 34).
2. When someone else initiates a trade request with you, there will be a similar notification indicating a trade restriction similar to the Steam trading limitation status.
3. Through the Steam trading status query link, the specific reason for the restriction cannot be viewed.
Testing has shown that this trade restriction status will last for two hours. If the name does not change again within two hours, the trade restrictions will be lifted. Therefore, during your trading process, please refrain from casually changing your Steam name to avoid trade failures.
A bold speculation is that Valve's move is aimed at curbing trade fraud such as account hijacking. Previously, in response to hijacking trade scams, Valve also updated corresponding prompt features, but the results seemed minimal.
Regarding scammers modifying a Steam name and profile picture to mimic a real buyer when falsifying quotes, Valve has added this restriction so scammers cannot imitate a buyer's Steam account through the name and profile picture.
However, scammers are quick to adapt. According to recent information collected by customer service colleagues, hijacking scammers have stopped falsifying Steam names and instead unified their scam accounts to display a special symbol as empty content.
