Cultivating Guide for Xiangling

I. Character Overview

Xiangling is a four-star Pyro polearm user known as the Weapon Master. She excels as a support character, specializing in long-lasting Pyro damage over time. She is a valuable member of any team that relies on Pyro reactions and is especially suitable for beginners.

III. Weapon Recommendations

Xiangling can be paired with a variety of polearm weapons, making her weapon choice quite flexible. For beginners who have the option, carrying Crescent Pike in their arsenal is a good choice. If you don't have Crescent Pike, you can obtain the weapon Favonius Lance by fishing in Inazuma.

IV. Artifact Recommendations

Since Xiangling mainly relies on her Elemental Burst ability for damage output, it is essential to prioritize energy recharge. The Crimson Witch set is the optimal choice.

Primary Stats: Sands of Eon (Energy Recharge%), Goblet of Eonothem (Pyro DMG%), Circlet of Logos (CRIT DMG%)

Substats: CRIT Rate > ATK% ≈ Energy Recharge (Elemental Mastery) > Others

V. Team Recommendations

Xiangling can fit into any team that requires Pyro reactions. The most common beginner team composition is Xingqiu, Xiangling, Bennett paired with a main DPS character, known as the National Team.

VI. Constellation Analysis

1st Constellation: Decreases enemies' Pyro resistance.

2nd Constellation: The final hit of normal attacks causes additional AoE Pyro damage.

4th Constellation: Extends the duration of Elemental Skills.

6th Constellation: Functions as a substitute for a Pyro main DPS character.

VII. Mechanism Explanation

Xiangling has two core mechanisms:

1. Frequency of Pyro application

Xiangling currently has the highest frequency of Pyro application as a support character. Her Elemental Skill creates Guoba, which lasts for 7 seconds and spews fire approximately every 1.5 seconds, up to 4 times. Each time it applies a weak Pyro status. Her Elemental Burst summons a rotating Pyronado that follows the active character and also applies a weak Pyro status to enemies hit (the Pyronado has no status application cooldown, but her Elemental Burst has a cooldown for the first three pulses). This makes her Pyro application ability excellent, especially with the Pyronado alone.

2. Snapshot mechanism

In addition to her strong Pyro application, Xiangling's Elemental Burst has a significant advantage for damage output—a snapshot mechanism. The process of her Elemental Burst is to complete three stages of damage first (approximately 1 second, during which she cannot cancel by sprinting or jumping), and then the Pyronado appears. It is during these three stages of damage that the Pyronado locks onto the current panel's attributes for damage calculation (so when Xiangling enters the Q area from Bennett, she can immediately use her Elemental Burst without delay and still enjoy the effects of Bennett's attack, without the need to stay). This allows the Pyronado to maintain the damage benefit of the locked attribute panel, even if the panel changes—unless the enemy's Pyro resistance changes!

The locked attributes are: ATK, CRIT Rate, Pyro Damage, Elemental Mastery. Elemental Mastery has special cases—vaporize and melt reactions are effective, while overloaded and burning reactions are ineffective.

Tip: Resistance is an attribute of enemies and is unrelated to characters. Enjoy the benefits of their resistance reduction at the same time! However, keep in mind that if you want to increase Pyro damage, you need to lower the enemy's Hydro resistance if you plan to apply Vaporize!

So, before using Xiangling's Elemental Burst, give her all the attribute boosts, such as from Bennett, Xingqiu, Sucrose, and Noblesse Oblige, trigger them all, and then let Xiangling use her Elemental Burst and lock in those attributes.

This will provide a stable and high damage output! This is also the main reason for her excellent ability to take advantage of boosts.

Considering the principle of Hydro countering Pyro and the 1.5x damage bonus from Vaporize and Melt reactions, as long as you provide Xiangling with a character that can consistently apply Hydro, she can give you satisfactory damage numbers. This is also the principle behind the team compositions such as the National Team and Wanderlust Troupe.
