Genshin Impact's quest Exploring the Depths of the Abyss is a prerequisite quest for exploring the caverns of Liyue. It mainly unlocks the item Luminous Crystal. Here is a detailed guide on how to complete the quest.
1. Trigger the Quest
Complete the quest Hidden Stars in the Mountains.
2. Quest Steps
1. Enter the underground mine in the Chasm.
Teleport to the Statue of The Seven in the Chasm and glide towards the Chasm Entrance.
2. Investigate the Luminous Crystal near the camp.
Talk to Jinwu at the camp and equip the Luminous Crystal from your inventory.
3. Find clues about Mr. Ho.
Jump down from the camp anchor point and search for fragments of a diary.

It is next to a weapon rack and a luminous lamp.

It is on a wooden shelf next to the luminous lamp.
Diary Fragment (3/3)
Teleport back to the anchor point, go right, and head towards the opposite platform.
It is on a wooden box next to a Treasure Hoarder.
4. Report the clues left by Mr. Ho to Jinwu.
Teleport back to the camp and speak to Jinwu.
5. Head to the Expedition Camp.
Talk to Jinwu again to unlock the enhancement of the Luminous Stone catalyst.
6. Find Zhijiang who went on an adventure alone.
Face the edge of the anchor point, fly up to the platform above, and then glide down.
Talk to Zhijiang to initiate the quest and encounter the Abyssal Corruption.
7. Activate the anchor point.
Fly from Zhijiang's location towards the anchor point to activate it for future quests.
