Wild Elden Ring Mod Swaps in Genshin Impact Characters
An Elden Ring mod brings the colorful characters of Genshin Impact to the Lands Between. While the setting of Teyvat and its world-hopping protagonist lend themselves well to the idea of showing up in other game universes, the dramatic clash between the art directions of Genshin Impact and Elden Ring produce a fascinatingly bizarre image. It's no secret that Genshin Impact's visuals are inspired by anime, which makes its characters stand out amid the more realistic and gloomy environments of FromSoftware's latest Soulslike.
Elden Ring mods that adapt Genshin Impact content are surprisingly numerous, as many creators in the Elden Ring community have successfully ported over characters such as Fischl or Eula, allowing fans the ability to roam the Lands Between while playing as their favorite champion from Teyvat. Given the flexibility of Elden Ring's class system, building their Tarnished to closely match the Genshin Impact character isn't an entirely fruitless endeavor.
Posted on the official Genshin Impact subreddit by user H4xototl, this Elden Ring mod is showcased through a thrilling boss fight featuring the female Traveler as the player character, with Ei (Raiden Shogun) taking the place of the iconic Malenia from Elden Ring. One thing that caught the attention of players replying to the thread was the skill of the original poster in facing off against one of Elden Ring's most notorious bosses, as Malenia's difficulty has frequently been the subject of memes.
Given that Fontaine is Genshin Impact's next region, the vaguely-French steampunk nation could feature plenty of gray sewers and desolate ruins scattered throughout its zones, allowing the aesthetic of Teyvat to lean into a gloomier direction for a change. While Chinese censorship laws prohibit any kind of visuals that depict ghouls, skeletons, or even blood, HoYoverse has deftly managed to weave in darker elements throughout Genshin Impact's lore. The recent video showcasing the Elden Ring mod sparked a renewed expectation from players that HoYoverse wouldn't shy away from the less glamorous aspects of a steampunk setting.
As Genshin Impact slowly-yet-steadily approaches the release of 4.0, the current update for the game has seen the return of the Dendro Archon Nahida as the featured banner character. Though still unconfirmed, leaks suggest that Version 3.7 and 3.8's banners will see the return of fan-favorites such as Kazuha, Eula, and Klee, as well as the introduction of the newly announced Kirara to Genshin Impact and its growing stable of characters. Players can most likely expect to get their hands on the new update on May 24, 2023.
