Genshin Impact Players Discover 3.6 Replaced Fontaine's Placeholder Model

Genshin Impact players have discovered that HoYoverse has updated the placeholder model for a part of the map which is expected to be the upcoming Fontaine region. The game's world is made of seven different major regions, each of which has a symbolic element and divine ideals.

So far, Genshin Impact has introduced only four of these nations: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru. The ongoing update 3.6 has added two new sub-regions that belong to the Dendro nations, and they are rumored to be the last map expansion for the foreseeable future.

Reddit user Thin-Kinkle has shared an interesting screenshot that shows the updated version of Fontaine's placeholder model which can be seen from a lot of locations in Teyvat, including the new Sumeru deserts. While the final version of Fontaine will most likely look different, the updated model can set the expectations for the new region. Some fans think that the huge river spreading through the region will probably play a significant role in its main quest line since Fontaine is known as the Hydro Nation. Previous Genshin Impact leaks have revealed that the main city could be attached to a vertical platform surrounded by waterfalls. However, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt as it was taken from the game's original beta phase.

Every region in the game is based on a real-life location and according to various rumors, Fontaine will be inspired by French culture, and it will apparently have a steampunk theme. When it comes to new roster additions, previous leaks have revealed the models of 10 new Genshin Impact characters that are tied to Fontaine.

When it comes to Fontaine's exact location, the region is expected to be placed north of the Sumeru deserts and west of the Liyue region. There is a chance that HoYoverse introduces new parts of Liyue and Mondstadt alongside Fontaine. Despite being the first nation introduced to the Travelers, Mondstadt is currently the smallest region in the game.

According to credible leakers, players will be able to meet the first playable character from Fontaine in the upcoming Genshin Impact version 3.7. At the moment, she goes by the name Charlotte, and she will be an important NPC in the upcoming months.
