Wow Reveals Aberrus Raid Schedule for 10.1 Update

With World of Warcraft Patch 10.1 just days away from release, Blizzard revealed a schedule for the upcoming raid Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. The nine-boss raid is one major part of the next content update for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight and features multiple difficulties for players to challenge.

While Patch 10.1, Embers of Neltharion, has been on the Public Test Realm (PTR) for some time, the next World of Warcraft update will release on May 2. The update will take players underneath the Dragon Isles as they explore the Zaralek Cavern and uncover the secrets left behind by Neltharion, the Earth-Warder, who would later be known as Deathwing. As Deathwing, he was responsible for the titular Cataclysm that resulted in Azeroth's landscape changing forever when the 2010 expansion was released. Over a decade later, Neltharion's laboratory will serve as the setting for World of Warcraft's upcoming raid tier.

In a blog post, Blizzard shared details on what World of Warcraft players can expect when Patch 10.1 arrives on May 2. Starting one week after Patch 10.1 itself goes live, players will have access to Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. The first three bosses of the raid, collectively titled The Discarded Works, will also be available on the Raid Finder difficulty on that day. Every two weeks after that, a few more bosses on Raid Finder difficulty will be available for players to take on. The final Raid Finder battle against Scalecommander Sarkareth will unlock in mid-June, over a month after Patch 10.1's release. Players last encountered Sarkareth during the story of the Forbidden Reach, where he leads the Sundered Flame in search of power. That search brought the wayward Dracthyr to Aberrus, and their journey will be chronicled during the patch.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible Raid Schedule

1. Week of May 8: Normal, Heroic, Mythic Difficulties and Raid Finder Wing 1 (The Discarded Works) Unlocked

2. Week of May 22: Raid Finder Wing 2 (Fury of Giants) Unlocked

3. Week of June 5: Raid Finder Wing 3 (Neltharion's Shadow) Unlocked

4. Week of June 19: Raid Finder Wing 4 (Edge of the Void) Unlocked

Blizzard also listed the roster of bosses that World of Warcraft players will encounter in Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. Aside from Sarkareth, one of the most notable encounters in the raid will be against an Echo of Neltharion himself. Though the Earth-Warder will be a formidable foe on higher difficulties, Blizzard removed one of Neltharion's key mechanics during a round of PTR testing. The developers stated that it was too difficult to balance Neltharion's planned "class call" mechanic across multiple difficulties, despite it being a nostalgic callback to the World of Warcraft: Classic era.

Once Aberrus is unlocked, a new raid loot option will be available in World of Warcraft for them to utilize, which will be particularly useful for transmog collectors. All in all, World of Warcraft raiders will have plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
