How to Get the Primal Knife in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Primal Knife is a bonus weapon in the Resident Evil 4 remake that unlocks by completing the Revolution Wind-Up challenge. It is described as a battle blade forged with infinite possibilities, which refers to its Exclusive Upgrade: Indestructibility.

But like all other bonus weapons in the RE4 remake, the Primal Knife is obtained only after beating the campaign. That is because the player must destroy sixteen dolls — one per Chapter — to unlock this weapon. Here's how Leon can get his hands on it.

How to Get the Primal Knife in RE4 Remake

To get the Primal Knife, the player will need to destroy all 16 Clockwork Castellans. There is one castellan in each Chapter of the game. Finding and destroying all of them will unlock the Primal Knife at the Extra Content Shop for 1,000 CP. The following table shows every castellan the player should destroy to get the Primal Knife:

Once bought from the Extra Content Shop, the Primal Knife can be accessed via the Storage menu. To move it to the inventory, interact with a typewriter.

How to Make the Primal Knife Indestructible

A fully upgraded Primal Knife becomes indestructible. To achieve that, the player will need to buy all its upgrades for 260,000 Pesetas, or pay an Exclusive Upgrade Ticket to unlock its unique perk. The indestructibility perk turns the Primal Knife into an infinite blade that requires no repair. The player can use it to get stealth kills or parry attacks as many times as needed because it won’t break.

The Primal Knife Vs. the Fighting Knife

Stat-wise, a fully upgraded Fighting Knife beats the Primal Knife in all aspects except durability. Although the Fighting Knife’s Exclusive Perk makes it twice as powerful as the Primal Knife, it can still break mid-battle. On the other hand, the maxed-out Primal Knife becomes indestructible.

Is the Primal Knife Worth It?

Because the Primal Knife is obtained for free, it is worth it. The player should note that it is the only infinite blade in the game, halting any maintenance concerns and costs. But it’s also noteworthy that the Primal Knife is not the strongest in the game, as its power only goes up to 1.20.
